SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Location: Falls Church, VA

Classification: Part-time or Full-time

Position Summary: Logapps, LLC is currently seeking a Systems Engineer who can perform a variety of system engineering and analysis tasks related to: system analysis, product development, software development, cost analysis, and statistics. Candidate will perform tasks such as: data collection, economic analysis, database development, process analysis, systems analysis, continuous improvement, and analysis of alternatives. The candidate will also perform other project and acquisition management duties, in support of market research, cost/benefit or trade off analysis, cost estimates, requirements capture, and results presentations along with initiating technical studies and reports.

The ideal candidate must maintain a high level of confidentiality, display a high level of professionalism, and be very comfortable interacting with government clients, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and teammates at all levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Systems Engineering

  • Cost Analysis – Develop life-cycle cost estimates for software and technology systems
  • Portfolio Analysis – Lead portfolio analysis studies to support budgetary decisions and cost trade-offs
  • Use Cases – Develop and/or analyze use cases, function point models, entity-relationship models, and other requirement based artifacts
  • Impact Analysis – Conduct impact analysis to assess the potential implications of program and technical changes
  • System Requirements – Analyze the feasibility and develop alternative technical approaches for new systems, and enhance current systems to ensure system design aligns with requirements

Requirements Analysis

  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboard, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or viewpoints
  • Review current requirements process and make suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions
  • Develop databases using Access or other relational database applications
  • Facilitate requirement trade-off sessions with project managers, develop gap analyses using “as-is” and “to-be” scenarios and document strategic alternatives

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Candidate must be a US citizen
  • Bachelor’s in System Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or Business. Minimum experience 3-5 years with Bachelor and 1-2 years with Master’s or MBA (Masters Preferred)
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall and familiarity with the Federal Acquisition process
  • Has experience with the collection, refinement, and requirements for large scale systems implementations
  • Experience with analytic methodologies, including statistics, data modeling, forecasting, and applied optimization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Access, more specifically, Microsoft Excel capabilities including functions, pivot tables, look-ups, and filters
  • Candidate should be able to analyze data of IT systems, government business systems, and other operations to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decisions
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong oral, written, and communication skills in business related acumen and technical situations
  • Knowledge of IT strategy and design disciplines, including IT portfolio management and IT project management
