JR. BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST

Description: Logapps is currently seeking a Junior Business Systems Analyst for federal projects in Washington, DC. The individual will work with an analysis team to develop cost estimates, business case analyses (BCAs), market research, analyses of alternatives (AoAs), and strategy reports. The analyst will report to a Task Lead and help design and deliver BCAs and supporting documentation for projects that support client IT portfolios

The Junior Business Systems Analyst works as part of a small team to conduct research and collect sufficient data to create business cases, estimates, and other studies that will enable senior managers and other leaders to make critical public investment decisions. General activities will include interacting with client program managers, technical experts, and subject matter experts to gain an understanding of systems and applications as they relate to cost, risk, and performance. Effective verbal and written communication skills are integral to the position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply basic research and analysis techniques to cost estimation and budget development efforts
  • Support system or software cost estimates by researching various sources to collect data regarding contract information, business processes, workflows, requirements, and vendor interviews
  • Develop cost models using Microsoft Excel and, in some cases, using parametric tools
  • Benchmark software development, system implementation, and system operations and maintenance costs by collecting and categorizing data
  • Provide documentation of data sources, analysis methodology, and results
  • Create PowerPoint slides for client presentations and other briefings
  • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data
  • Maintain database of project and portfolio information to include software size, software development productivity, cost, and schedule
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities at the same time
  • Protect information by keeping financial data secure and confidential

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of spend plans, budgets, and Statements of Work
  • Analyze budgets for areas where improved reporting is possible
  • Contribute to the development of multi-year budget estimates

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Math, Accounting, Statistics. or a related science or technology field
  • 0-3 years of work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including functions, pivot tables, lookups, and filters
  • Some knowledge of cost modeling and cost accounting
  • Interest in Information Technology (IT)
  • Strong business writing skills
  • Sound analysis, research, and fact-finding capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Other desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience working in public acquisition
  • Familiarity with the federal acquisition process
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies
  • This position requires a public trust clearance. Candidate must be a US citizen.
